New to Medicare?

Medicare is a program managed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Persons who are age 65 and older, certain younger people with disabilities or persons with ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease – permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant) may be eligible to apply for Original Medicare (Part A and Part B). Currently, Medicare has four different parts, Parts A, B, C, and D. They include services, such as hospital, medical, and prescription drugs. What exactly do these parts mean? Do you need to get them all? There is a certain time that you need to apply for Medicare; after which you will probably want to get additional coverage with a Medicare Advantage plan or a Medicare Supplement Insurance plan.
